Day 1
Welcome to to Sri Lanka
You will arrive at Colombo International Airport (CMB) on your first day. Upon your arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by your local guide. After a brief introduction to your tour, the guide will assist you with your luggage and escort you to a comfortable vehicle. Enjoy a scenic drive to Negombo, a charming coastal town just a short distance from the airport. After checking in at your transit hotel, you can relax and explore the beach or nearby attractions, setting the stage for an exciting journey in Sri Lanka. A delicious dinner will be provided on your first evening to ensure your comfort.Day 2, 3 & 4
Exploring Galle
Day 2:After breakfast, embark on a scenic trip from Negombo to Galle Road. Then, you will exit from Ambalangoda, and our first attraction will be the Madu River Boat Safari. Madu River Boat Safari We welcome you to Madu River Boat Safari, your gateway to the hidden beauty of Madu Ganga in Balapitiya, Sri Lanka. Embark on an unforgettable boat ride through this enchanting lagoon, renowned for its 64 islands and rich biodiversity. We visit around ten islands in the lagoon. Our journey begins as you board our fully insured boat, navigating through a stunning natural mangrove cave. Along the way, you'll visit Cinnamon Island, where you can witness the traditional cinnamon manufacturing process. Marvel at rural fishermen in their traditional catamarans, adding to the picturesque charm of the lagoon. Keep an eye out for diverse wildlife that thrives in this serene environment. Discover a peaceful temple nestled on the Koth Duwa. Your boat safari will take approximately two hours. Drive through the Seniac coastal area. Ambalangoda to Galle Your journey will continue along the beautiful southern coastline from Ambalangoda to Gall, passing beautiful beaches. You will pass through tourist cities like Hikkaduwa and Rathgama, taking in the views of pristine beaches as you approach Galle. Galle Dutch Fort We welcome you to visit Galle Dutch Fort. Located in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, the fort was built first by the Portuguese in 1588 and extensively fortified by the Dutch from 1649 onwards during the 17th century. It is a historical, archaeological, and architectural heritage monument and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit key attractions, including the Maritime Museum, the old lighthouse, charming Dutch colonial villas, and local antique shops. Afterwards, enjoy a city tour of Galle, immersing yourself in its rich history and vibrant culture, before being dropped off at your hotel to relax for the rest of the day. Day 3: After a delightful breakfast, your guide will lead you on an exciting river safari at Koggala Lake. This serene and scenic experience allows you to immerse yourself in the lush surroundings and observe the local wildlife and vibrant birdlife. The peaceful waters and rich biodiversity will make for a memorable morning. The lagoon consists of eight small islands such as Mangrove Island (Madol Duwa), Cinnamon Island, Kathduwa and so on. Japanese Peace Pagoda - Rumassala Your next visit will be to the Japanese Peace Pagoda Rumassala. This impressive pagoda, built by Japanese Buddhist monks on the hillside west of Unawatuna, is worth a visit. It is run by a Japanese priest and is surrounded on either side by Jungle Beach and Unawatuna Beach. The meaning behind the Pagoda is to symbolise peace, respect and love. Unawatuna Jungle Beach Following the Japanese Peace Pagoda visit, you'll hike to Roomassala Jungle Beach. The path to this hidden gem offers both adventure and stunning views as you make your way through lush jungle terrain. Once you arrive at the beach, you’ll have time to enjoy a refreshing sea bath in the warm waters of Southern Sri Lanka's coastline, a perfect way to relax and rejuvenate.
In the late afternoon, you'll return to your hotel, where you can unwind after a day full of adventure and natural beauty. Day 4: After a delicious breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Yatagala Raja Maha Viharaya, a stunning rock temple nestled among towering rock formations. The journey to the temple involves a rewarding climb, allowing you to fully appreciate the surroundings. At the top, you'll be greeted by a magnificent statue of Lord Buddha, along with intricate murals and wall paintings that depict scenes from Buddhist teachings. The serene atmosphere and panoramic views make this a spiritual and cultural highlight of the day. In the afternoon, your guide will take you to the beautiful Mirissa Beach, known for its breathtaking natural beauty. The beach is a paradise of golden sands, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush green palm trees swaying in the breeze. The crescent-shaped bay offers panoramic views and is the perfect spot for relaxation or a leisurely walk along the shore. You can soak up the tranquil atmosphere or even take a dip in the clear waters before returning to your hotel.Day 5, 6 & 7
Tissamaharama & Kataragama
Day 5: After enjoying breakfast at your hotel in Galle, you will depart to Udawalawe. Your first stop will be the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, where you can learn about elephant conservation efforts and observe these magnificent creatures up close. After the Elephant Transit Home visit, your guide will take you to Tissa Lake Safari. You will experience the lake safari, which was constructed in ancient civilizations in southern Sri Lanka. You will enjoy Lake Cruse for one hour. Glide across the serene lakes, surrounded by lush landscapes and the melodies of exotic birdlife. Led by experienced boatmen, this exclusive water safari is designed for those seeking a peaceful escape into the heart of Tissamaharama’s natural beauty. In the evening, explore Tissamaharama, immersing yourself in local village life, visiting the historic temple Tissamaharama, and indulging in authentic southern Sri Lankan cuisine. After a fulfilling day, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel. Day 6: Rise early, have breakfast, and travel from Tissamaharama to Kataragama. Once you arrive in Kataragama, we will take you to Sella Kataragama, one of the oldest villages, for a religious and cultural experience. Your guide will explain and show you exciting places, shrines, local beliefs, natural gems, rivers, and village life. In the evening, your guide will take you to Kiri Vehera, an ancient stupa in Kataragama, Sri Lanka. This stupa probably dates back to the 3rd century BC. It is believed to have been built by King Mahasena. Then, you will visit the main Hindu temple, Kataragama Kovil, to gain cultural experience. Then, your guide will drop you at your hotel.
Day 7: Rise early and have breakfast for an exciting safari at Yala National Park, renowned for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes. Experience the thrill of spotting elephants, leopards, and various bird species in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, we will take you for a relaxing village walk, show you paddy fields, and show you the gem river. You will be dropped at your hotel after dinner at a local restaurant.day 8,9, & 10
Ella
Day 8: After breakfast in Kataragama, you are again on your road trip towards Ella, this picturesque mountain town. Upon arrival, you’ll check in to your hotel in Southern Ella and take some time to relax and soak in the serene surroundings. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the famous Nine Arch Bridge, a stunning colonial-era architecture set amidst lush greenery. You can enjoy a one-hour walk from Ella Town, capturing breathtaking photographs of the bridge as it towers above the mist, or opt for a convenient tuk-tuk ride for a quicker journey. As the sun sets, immerse yourself in Ella's vibrant nightlife. The town boasts various lively restaurants and bars, offering a delightful mix of local and international cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere that sets it apart from other South Asian destinations. Day 9: Rise early for a hike to Ella Rock, also known as Little Adam’s Peak. This trek, lasting between three to five hours, takes you through beautiful tea plantations and dense forests, rewarding you with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. In the afternoon, cool off at Ravana Falls, where you can experience the refreshing waters and stunning natural beauty. The falls are a perfect natural spa, revitalizing your energy for further exploration. Then, you’ll also have the chance to visit the nearby Ravana Caves, which are rich in history and folklore. After a day filled with adventure and stunning sights, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, concluding an unforgettable experience in one of Sri Lanka’s most enchanting locations. Day 10: Rise early and tour a tea factory, which is easily one of the must-do activities in Ella. We will take you to Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory, one of the largest in Sri Lanka. It is located just 4km out of Ella town. After the Tea factory visit, we will take you to Diyaluma Falls (Sri Lanka’s second tallest falls). The impressive long drop of water stands 220 metres high and has several tiers and natural swimming pools. You’ll pass the bottom of Diyaluma Falls on the road, where you can admire the incredible view of the long dramatic drop from the top of the escarpment. However, the best part of the waterfall is that the upper falls have a series of natural pools in which to swim. To reach the Upper Diyaluma Falls, you must walk on a short hiking trail. After the Diyaluma Falls visit, we will drive up to Kandy. You will arrive in Kandy late in the evening. Check-in directly at your hotel and set the stage for the journey ahead.Day 11, 12 & 13
Kandy - History, Culture, and Nature
Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a city rich in history and culture, set amidst lush hills, serene landscapes, history and culture. As the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy offers a unique blend of spirituality and beauty. Here's a captivating two-day itinerary to explore this historic city. Day 11: Morning: Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
Rise early and enjoy breakfast at your hotel before heading to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), an essential landmark in Kandy. This sacred temple, built between 1687 and 1707, houses the relic believed to be a tooth of Buddha. It is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in Sri Lanka. Take your time to explore the temple's intricate architecture, its serene surroundings, and the spiritual ambience that permeates the air.
Tip: When visiting religious sites, be mindful of the dress code. It’s recommended that you cover your shoulders and knees. Late Morning: Kandy Museum
After you visit the temple, head to the Kandy Museum, which is housed in a former royal residence. The museum showcases royal regalia, ancient artefacts, and personal items from the Kandyan kings. The highlight is the display of King Rajasinha II’s golden crown, offering a glimpse into the opulent past of the Kandyan kingdom. Although the layout may seem a bit dated, the museum's historical significance makes it a worthwhile stop. Afternoon: Leisure
After exploring the museum, take some time to wander around the Kandy Lake or relax at a local café. Enjoy the peaceful setting and reflect on the city’s royal heritage. Have lunch at one of Kandy’s famous eateries offering traditional Sri Lankan dishes. Kandyan Cultural Centre - The Kandyan Cultural Dance Show This is one of the most attractive shows you should visit in Kandy if you wanna experience some traditional folk dance of Srilanka. The dancers immerse themselves in the dance and entertain you with their heart and soul, not to be missed. These Dances are performed at local ceremonies and rituals using drums and costumes that are unique to each area. Among the attractions are the Dances depicting the majestic walk of the elephant, the peacock's colourful performance and the cobra's mystical movements. Day 12: Nature and Cuisine Morning: Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens
Start the day early with breakfast before heading to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, located near the Mahaweli River. This expansive garden is a haven for nature lovers, home to over 4,000 species of plants, including orchids, medicinal herbs, and various tropical trees. Explore the well-maintained grounds, take a stroll beneath towering palms, and don’t miss the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka, where you can learn more about the island’s diverse flora. Late Morning: Kandy City Tour & Sri Lankan Cuisine
After your botanical garden exploration, return to Kandy for a city tour. Visit local landmarks such as Kandy City Centre and walk through the streets to experience Kandy’s vibrant cultural scene. Then, take a break and indulge in Sri Lankan cuisine. Try signature dishes like rice and curry, hoppers, or kottu roti, and sample traditional sweets such as Watalappan (a coconut custard dessert). After a day of exploring Kandy's rich history and natural beauty, return to your hotel for a relaxing evening. Day 13: Kandy Architecture Rise early to explore 'Embekka Dewalaya'. Embekka Dewalaya Embekke Devalaya is a historic Hindu temple located in the village of Embekke. It is considered a significant cultural and religious site, reflecting the island's rich heritage in architecture and artistry. Embekke Devalaya is also famous for its vibrant festivals, attracting pilgrims and tourists seeking to experience its spiritual atmosphere. Next, your guide will take you to 'Gadaladeniya Vihara'. Gadaladeniya Vihara is a historic Buddhist temple in the Kandy District of Sri Lanka. It was built during the 14th century by King Bhuvanekabahu IV. The temple is known for its unique blend of South Indian architectural influences and traditional Sri Lankan design, particularly its stone structure and intricately carved wooden features. After visiting the above attractions, your driver will take you to Anuradhapura, where you will rest at the hotel.Day 14 & 15
Anuradhapura
Day 14: Rise early in the morning, enjoy breakfast, and prepare for your first visit. Your guide will take you to see Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, the oldest tree on the entire globe, standing tall in the Mahamewna Gardens in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Humans planted the 2,600-year-old tree. Then, you will visit several Buddhist temples in the same vicinity. Ruwanweliseya, Thuparamaya, Jethawanaramaya, Abhayagiriya, Lovamahapaya, After lunch, you will visit Anuradhapura town and the Samadhi Buddha statue. The Samadhi Buddha statue is an iconic and revered sculpture representing Lord Buddha in a state of deep meditation or samadhi. This statue holds significant religious and historical importance in Sri Lanka and is situated within the Mahamevuna Park in Anuradhapura. In the evening, you will visit huge lakes in Sri Lanka. There are three lakes: Tissa Wewa, Nuwara Wewa and Basawakkulama Weva. Then you will return back to your hotel. Day 15: Rise early in the morning, enjoy breakfast, and prepare for your first visit. You will visit the Mihintale Temple, where Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka. Then, you will climb the 1,840 steps to the summit, where stunning panoramic views will greet you. Next attraction you will join to see Isurumuniya. Isurumuniya is a revered Buddhist temple located in Anuradhapura. It is renowned for its impressive rock carvings, particularly the Isurumuniya Lovers, a famous bas-relief sculpture depicting a couple in a loving embrace. After you visit Anuradhapura, your driver will drive a further 110 KM towards Polonnaruwa.Day 16 & 17
Polonnaruwa
Day 16: Rise early and, after breakfast, get ready to see the attractions of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the Chola and Sinhalese kingdom's royal capital for three centuries. Today, the archaeological park is a delight to explore, with hundreds of ancient structures—tombs, temples, statues, and stupas—in a sprawling forested core. In the archaeological park, you will see the Royal Palace, the Shiva Devale, the Audience Hall, the Sacred Quadrangle, the Swimming Pool, the Dagaba Kiri Vihara, the Pabalu Vehera, the Buddha statue at Lankatilaka, the Lord Buddha figures at Gal Vihara, the Rankot Vihara, and the Polonnaruwa Tank. After visiting the above attractions, you will return to your hotel. Day 17: Rise early and, after breakfast, check out from your hotel, and your guide will take you to see Parakrama Samudra. Parakrama Samudra (or the Sea of King Parakrama) is a shallow reservoir consisting of five separate pools (Thopa, Dumbutulu, Erabadu, Boo, and Katu tanks) connected by narrow channels in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. It has a storage area of more than 5,000 acres to irrigate 18,000. Once you finish visiting Polonnaruwa, your guide will take you to Sigiriya.Day 18 & 19
Sigiriya (Lion Rock) & Dambulla
Day 18: Rise early to explore Lion Rock, Sigiriya. Rising dramatically from the surrounding plains, Sigiriya Rock, also known as Lion Rock, is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, this ancient rock fortress dates back to the 5th century AD, when King Kasyapa originally constructed it as a royal citadel. A Journey to the summit and climbing to the top of Sigiriya are exhilarating experiences. Visitors ascend approximately 1,200 steps, navigating through breathtaking frescoes, mirror walls, and the remnants of an ancient palace. The famous frescoes depicting celestial maidens offer a glimpse into the artistry and culture of the time. As you ascend, you'll encounter the impressive Lion's Gate, which once featured a colossal lion statue. Although only the paws remain, it still evokes a sense of grandeur. Upon reaching the summit, visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of the lush jungles and far-off mountains and the impressive remains of the royal citadel, including water gardens, bathing pools, and the throne room. You need to enjoy your climb to Sigiriya Rock for about three hours. Once you finish your visit, the Lions Rock, next you will visit Sigiriya museum. At the museum, you can see an intricate diorama of the site, and onwards from there, you’ll be treated to a plethora of artefacts, from tools to sculptures, jewellery, and more! There’s even a human skeleton, a prehistoric section, and a few exhibits from the pre-civilisation era. It’s the product of over three decades of intense archaeological research, picking apart the clues left behind by its long-gone inhabitants. After lunch, visit Sigiriya village in the central province of Sri Lanka for a relaxing boat ride and a village tour. The tour includes a boat ride across a peaceful reservoir, providing a glimpse into the area's natural beauty and tranquillity. After the village tour and boat ride, return to your hotel. .
Day 19: Rise early and have breakfast to visit the Dambulla cave temple. Towering above the plains of Dambulla is this awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage site, the Dambulla Cave Temple Complex. This ancient Buddhist pilgrimage is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The five significant caves are dotted with 150-plus stunning Buddha statues.
After exploring the Dambulla Cave Temples, your guide will hike down and gaze your eyes upon one of the enormous Buddha statues. As it turns out, it’s the largest Buddha in this position and is plated with real gold. The Golden Buddha sits above the Buddha Museum and is surrounded by other artwork and statues, including elephants. From the ground floor, you can walk up the side of the museum to the Buddha's base. Finally, we will take you to the farmers' market in Dambulla Dedicated Economic Center, a bustling place where you can see a beautiful display of local produce from all over the island. It is an interesting market to visit for its colourful sights, sounds, and bustle of farmers.
After you visit Dambulla attractions, you will return to your hotel.Day 20, 21 & 22
Colombo
Day 20: Rise early and, after breakfast, travel to Colombo from Dambulla. Once you arrive, check-in at your hotel and rest for some time. In the evening, you will visit The Galle Face, a 5-hectare ribbon strip of land between Galle Road and the Indian Ocean, the largest open space in Colombo. This is a popular destination for children, vendors, teenagers, lovers, kite flyers, merrymakers, and all those who want to indulge in their favourite pastimes next to the sea under the open sky. We recommend you visit 'The One Galleface shopping mall'- a luxury shopping mall in Sri Lanka. After your visit, you will return to your hotel. Day 21: Rise early for breakfast and your first visit to the Main Street Market in Colombo. Your guide will escort you to the walk-in market. Next, you will visit Jami-Ul Alfar Mosque-Red Mosque. It is a historic mosque in Colombo. Construction of the Jami-Ul-Alfar Mosque commenced in 1908, and the building was completed in 1909. The mosque was commissioned by the local Indian Muslim community based in Pettah. Next, you will visit the Lotus Tower in Colombo. The lotus-shaped tower is used for communication, observation, and other leisure facilities. Day 22: Today, after a relaxing morning at your hotel, you'll have the opportunity to unwind before your departure. This final day allows you to reflect on your journey, pick up a few memorable souvenirs, and head home with the warmth of Sri Lanka in your heart. If you're interested in some last-minute shopping, your guide can take you to local souvenir shops where you can pick up the mementoes of your trip. Additionally, you can visit a spice shop to purchase authentic Sri Lankan spices, a perfect reminder of the island's rich culinary heritage. Once your shopping is complete, your guide will take you to the International Airport (CMB) for your departure.
